Laughing Inside

The other day my eight year old son Wesley and I were having our daily download after school; in which he tells me how his day was, what he did at school…..  Part of the conversation went like this “Dad this kid at school named Jacob said that this girl was on crack! What does that mean?”  grin, lol, li, ahhh $#1@&^/

Pardon my sometimes warped sense of humor, but this had me (li) laughing inside!   I wasn’t laughing at the ingorance of the statement, but rather the innocence of the question “What does that mean?”

My question to all of my blogsphere friends is: How would you have responded to that question?  Share your funny responses, serious responses, ridiculous responses; just share your responses!

BTW- If you want to hear some lessons learned from kids; check out Swerve.

I think that would be the perfect chance to break the ice about brugs if you haven’t already had the talk. I was suprised to read the statistics of how early in life some kids are offered drugs.
We may use the term “on crack” or “smokin’ crack” loosely to describe someone that has made a mistake or acting weird but that could be taken way out of context by a child.
Your right it is funny to think of a kid using it like adults do but scary to think they have no idea what it really means

So, what did you tell him Scott? LOL

    Just wait….the questions get harder!

Roger- You are right about the context of how that phrase is used. Kids are just mini adults!
Robin- I first explained to him what crack was and then how people can use that phrase for a different meaning. I also talked to him about leadership/witness and encouraged him to call his friends on things they say negative about others. We had a similar conversation earlier in the year when some kids were making fun of one of Wesley’s friends that is Pleasently Plump (that’s politically correct for chubby)! ;-)

LOL, Wesley has got to one of the funniest kids ever. Wish I could have seen the look on his face when he said it! And I agree with Robin… It only gets harder, LOL I can’t wait! HAHA :-)
