My Life:  It’s time for a vacation!

Featured Blogger, Frequent Commenter:  Kevin Bussey is the featured blogger this week. Check out his blog: Confessions of a Recovering Pharisee.

Comment of the Week: Chilly on post: Lessons I Learned While In Prison 2 (of 4) he said:  “I think many churches & individuals today need more than a little water – they need a firehose enema – because they’re so full of crap!  Look on their faces: discomfort, uptight, miserable… that’s no way for a child of God to live.  But until we deal with the secret junk inside of us and get it out at all costs – our life will STINK!  Maybe that’s why they sit on pews….”

Link Me and I’ll Link You Back:  If you have linked or added BigIsTheNewSmall to your blogroll let me know and I’ll link you back.

American Idol:  Favorites: David Archuleta (16) & Ramiele Malubay (20).

Silent Readers:  If you happen to be one of the many silent readers; post a comment and say what’s up I’m a silent reader.  I recently ran into Nicole and Lisa who are both silent readers.

Got Questions:

  • Do you care about steroids/HGH in Major League Baseball or any Sport?
  • Are you an American Idol Junkie?
  • When was the last time you talked with someone about Jesus?

Man I like the new website, but unless you are running firefox or one of the other non IE programs it is slow. All performance enhancing drugs should be banned by every sport and give regular law abiding athletes a chance.
    remember to blog roll me

Thanks for the addition, have a great weekend

Scott, what is with the American Idol favorites…how about a little lifechurch.tv love for Alaina Whittaker who has been seen attending the Tulsa campus (before and during AI according to Youth chief Dan), maybe we could add her to your favorites…didn’t know whether you were aware or not…steroids and HGH should not be part of athletics…no on American Idol but my family keeps me informed…it easy to talk about Jesus to my friends and fellow believers but I need to step outside of my comfort zone more often and take that risk of faith which of course is what you are asking…

    Yeah, Pastor Chilly.

What’s up? I’m a rather silent reader. I really like what you talk about, but sometimes I just don’t know what to say in response.

  • http://leopardatthesummit.blogspot.com/ Steve K.

While well intentioned, I didn’t care for Chilly’s quote. The phrase “firehose enema” is clever, but it doesn’t really say anything. I’d like to know what he was referring to, rather than just paint broad strokes on an entire establishment, “churches and individuals”. Whose faces are full of “discomfort, uptight, miserable”? My gut tells me he is referring to pastors that might be pointing out items we need to improve upon – scolding us like parents should. Sermons and churches can’t be places that only make us feel good and tell us how great things are – we need to be shown what we are doing wrong so we can correct ourselves.

Steve K. – dude, you better check your “gut”, cause it’s telling you something that isn’t correct… you got me all wrong.

    - I, myself, am a lead pastor – so, I’m not going after the pulpit, I’m after sin and self-righteousness wherever it might be… starts by me looking at myself.
    - Be careful that you don’t read everything with a “what’s wrong with it” attitude rather than a “what’s right with it” – instead, first, apply it to yourself before jumping in defense of others.
    - still flushing, chilly

Oh, and, Scott – man thanks for the honor of quote of the week. Of all my quotes, this one made it … hmmm, now I know what you’re looking for – I’ll keep them coming!

Thanks for calling me out…so I guess I’m no longer a silent reader! :)

Chilly ~ Sorry, dude, Chilly! Your quote referred to “church and individuals.” I didn’t pick up on that being “sin and self righteousness.” “Church” can mean a lot of different things. I stand corrected. Also, very often I look at things with a “what’s right with things”, but not exclusively. If one never looks at things with a “what’s wrong with it” (with a heavy dose of love) or a “how can we make this better,” things will never improve. We’ll just feel good! Too often churches don’t want to offend others, so they MOSTLY point out “what’s right.” That’s my point.
