Comment of the Week: Hope commented on post: “Secular Music In The Church” she said: “Our walk is a spiritual walk but it was a walk in the world. Many secular people have great ideas, opinions and so much that add to life regardless who is the recipient. I think it’s very dangerous when Christians ostracize themselves from the rest of the world.”

1. Does your church do anything unique or special on Easter? Please Share!
Not really. We are sending out a mailer that I designed.
2. In the spirit of secular music… who is your favorite secular artist or band?
Journey!
3. Any early March Madness Predictions?
UNC
Lifecentre puts on a performance called “The Nails.” The subject matter surrounds the blacksmith who was forced to make the nails that were used (physically) to nail Christ to the cross (even though we know it was His love for us that really nailed Him there). We print up beautiful invitations and church members hand out the invitations to those we know who don’t yet know Jesus. We also leave them in books stores, placed them on bulletin boards etc. It’s a great way to celebrate that He is risen!
My favourite secular band, is really a singer and orchestra: Michael Buble. I just love that he loves singing about love so much. Favourite Christian band is Leeland; I also love Jeff Deyo.
1. My church does the same thing as yours
2. band(s): U2, Arrested Development, David Wilcox
3. March rarely makes me mad
We do something unique at Easter that ties into your thoughts on “secular music”… check it out:

1. I don’t pay much attention to holidays (Religious or otherwise)I just hope to get a day off work– Can’t wait to see the new Warrior series.
2. Clapton, everyone else is just trying too hard.
3. March Madness? is that like cabin fever?
My church brings a bunch of prisoners who have struggled to qualify and maintain their status in a “halfway house” facility that trusts them to be bussed to our church this Easter. They get to spend time with their family members, some of whom will sneak them alcohol, drugs, or other contraband that some of them will consume at the church or sneak back to their facility. These people will “fellowship” with “ex-cons” who still attend the church and who might be risking their probation by doing so at a church where these “not ex-cons” and other “ex-cons” attend and engage in these questionable activities. Not only will some of these people engage in these questionable activities, some of them aren’t even Christians and they are allowed to come as well! Some of them are Muslims and some of them are Agnostics and some of them are believers in other faiths and some of them are Atheists and all of them are allowed to express and believe whatever doctrinal, spiritual or worldly idea or concept they want to! Some of these people will sit in a room with a TV and watch sports the entire time! Some of them will stand outside the church the entire time and do nothing but spend time with their family! They won’t get any “vision” exposed to them! These spiritual battles in the presence of other church members and their families will happen during Easter bible study, the church service and the meal the church prepares for everyone after the service. All over the property. It’s like walking through some crazy spiritual war zone where humans struggle with their personal and spiritual demons in the face of presence of the mercy and forgiveness of God…
Oh wait, this church does this every Sabbath. Nope, nothing “special”. (grin)
