IF I could add one, it would be: Never underestimate the power of personal integrity.
-- Leading is difficult, if not impossible, without personal integrity. Sincerity, honesty, character and credibility must be modeled. A high and holy standard is essential.

Nice Scott. Here are some random thoughts that corrolate with yours:
#1 - Quit focusing on where we are on the organizational flow chart and focus on adding value to the cause and those around us. See more here - http://swerve.lifechurch.tv/2008/07/08/guest-blog-scott-rodgers-4/
#2 - Hire mostly on the things that are not as teachable: passion, leadership zeal, communication, woo, willing to sacrifice, initiative, resourcefulness, etc.
#3 - What are meetings? Conversations to further the cause, move forward with executing strategy, etc. I'll bet big money that those conversations can happen more impromptu if we're intentional. Not all the time, but much more I'm sure and be more energizing than most 'meetings'.
#4 - Strong leaders aren't looking for 'yes men'. We should contribute by adding our respectful and honest observations then be willing to do the work necessary to make the dream a reality.
#5 - The cardinal sin of leadership is insecurity. Don't micromanage. Let your people breath. Let them lead. Allow them to fail. Don't abandon them though, empower them appropriately. Coach them so that they ultimately succeed.
#6 - Be the best you that you can be. Lead through your strengths. Find your voice as a leader. Discover the rhythm that best fits you. Be teachable but don't try to become someone you're not.
Thanks Scott Williams. That's the longest comment I've ever posted :). Love ya'.

Love it! Love it! Love it! I used to hate meeting about "how to meet with your customer"...what a waste of time! And the micromanage thing smothers ALL growth! How about..Continue to motivate others ALWAYS to be the BEST "them" that they can be!
