If I Didn't… Would You Still?

If I didn’t allow comments on BigIsTheNewSmall.com, would you still visit the site?

Are comments important?  Are there any good blogs that you read that don’t allow comments?

RSS readers please share your thoughts as well!

I only go to sites I can comment on. Doesn’t mean I always do but I like the option.

I like to read comments and various opinions and share as well. It seems that people will read the blogs with the most comments and be more willing to comment or share on these sites. If there are NO COMMENTS or only a few on a random site…they don’t usually want to be the first or “ONLY” to comment too spooky for most!

i read a few blogs and never comment so i don’t think that matters to me. the only blog that i read that doesn’t allow comments is peopleschurch.tv’s pastor.

One of my favorite verses in the Bible is Proverbs 27:17: “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Blogs that allow comments are contributing to that “sharpening” process. With that in mind, I’d like to offer this up to everyone – when iron sharpens iron there’s always going to be sparks. Some comments/commenters may rile you up a bit. Don’t take it personally, but consider it an opportunity to grow you.

I would still read your blog but I would miss the community that exist here. I don’t get a lot of traffic on my blog, but thats not the reason I blog anyway. But I have “met” some great people because I followed a link from their post.

Open Comments aren’t important to me at all. In fact, sometimes I feel the comments distract from the original post…

    IMHO

Nah, I probably wouldn’t visit. one of the main purposes of a blog is to be able to comment. It’s like having friend chicken with no hot sauce. it’s like having greens with no smoked meat. It’s like having dressing with no poultry. It just doesn’t work.

I read Perry Noble and he doesn’t do comments – but, then again, that kind of frustrates me. Craig Groeschel isn’t too busy to comment to his readers but Perry… well…

Ultimately IF the content is fresh and challenging, I’ll probably read it from time to time; but I’m probably more consistent with those (like you) that I feel more connected to.

I probably wouldn’t read your blog as much. Your blog is one of the better conversational blogs I read. There are only a few no-comments-allowed blogs that I read: Perry Noble and Steven Furtick, for example, but they’re exceptions.

    comments are half the fun

RSS subscriber here – I like having the ability to comment should the desire strike me, but I think it’s understandable when an author turns off commenting for a specific post for whatever reason.

Most blogs are boring without comments. Unless they just post videos and stuff. Comments make blogging fun!

Scott, I was just checking out one of my favorite blogs Angry Asian Man and he doesn’t have comments but I still visit it on a regular basis. That’s because it fills in a niche spot and the content is really good. It keeps me up to date on some interesting things happening in the Asian-American community.

Here’s the link: (I think you’ll like it)

I would still visit the blog but I have to admit that I would miss the interaction that the comment section brings.
To me it is the difference between a lecture and a community.

Guns don’t kill people, and single-sided razorblades are safer for a reason. Time, never enough of it. Doesn’t matter to me. I figured out what I need to watch for. I hope I have enough turns left.
