Potential…

potentialThere is something about the word potential that is intriguing; it’s one of those words that has the potential to have a neutral, negative or positive meaning.  Let’s look at the definition of potential:

Potential-  Possible, as opposed to actual; capable of being or becoming; a latent excellence or ability that may or may not be developed.

We use potential to acknowledge that someone or something has the capability of becoming excellent.  We also use potential to recognize that someone or something is far away from reaching the mark and actually may never hit the mark.  Realizing our potential is a very important aspect of our lives.  I was talking to my oldest son one day about potential and this quote just hit me “Potential not realized, is just Potential!”

My buddy Troy Gramling over at Flamingo Road Church consistently shares the purpose of their ministry, which is: “Partnering with people to reach their God-potential as they: connect with God, become like Christ, and influence their world.”  Now that’s the potential that we need to realize… Our God-Potential!

My personal mission is to strive daily to help others to realize their potential and realizing mine along the way!  Don’t leave this earth have people remember you as the person who had Potential.  Realize Your Potential!

Sincerely,

Potential…

Do you have POTENTIAL or do you just have potential?  Are you helping other people reach their potential?

Great post, big ups. I think it’s one of the
beautiful things to see and also one of
the saddest things to see when a person
is REACHING or MISSING their GOD
potential as my friend TG says. We were
created with a divine purpose, with huge
significance and each day we should
approach life with that intensity and passion.
    Say word up.

Prior to being under Pastor Troy’s leadership, “potential” was NOT one of my buzz words! But over the last several years, Pastor Troy has shown me its immeasurable value. Now I see POTENTIAL as something I get to breathe out w/ every breath God gives me! As that’s become an instinctive part of me, I’ve been reaching my potential & hopefully helping the world reach theirs. Thx, Scott -HP

Love it! I like to think of myself as a “potentializer” both at work and at home. (I work with mentally-retarded and/or developmentally-disabled adults.)

God’s been talking to me a lot about potential. He keeps telling me to stop living under the weight of expectation and live instead under the influence of potential. One feels like ankle weights – the other like spring loaded soles.

I meet so many folks, especially young people, that have not yet realized their potential. I tend to call them “floaters” – just people floating around life wondering what to do next. God put those talents and skills in us for a reason, and that reason is to use it for the furthering of His kingdom. Sometimes fear gets in the way of moving forward and prevents us from realizing that potential, but it’s still there, just waiting to flourish and take loads of people for His glory. I always strive to live up to the calling of God on my life, and I love encouraging others to do the same.
