Shorter blog posts are better - we're all just too busy to read long posts. The exception is when a longer post catches me fast (in the first sentence or two) - then I'll push through and read the whole thing.

And when you think about it, short posts are MUCH harder to write than long ones. It takes a talented writer to put together a compelling piece in very few words!

Scotty Scott!! Yeah, I generally like shorter posts... but as someone said above, it depends on the topic and the writer. I've gravitated (for now anyway) toward a more "devotional" style of writing... so my posts have gotten a tad longer. But I still only say what needs to be said, and try to leave the reader wanting more. Bottom line is, have something to say and people will read what you right. :)

Great Reminder Scott. Spot on. As a reader I pass by the long stuff looking for more of the meat in the post. As a blogger I have tried to put into practice keeping my post appox 600 words or so. Basically the same principle for writing book reviews. It gives way for around 2 short paragraphs if that. It helps to narrow my focus without rambling as well. Thanks again for the reminder.

I generally prefer shorter posts, but it depends on the topic and the writer. Sometimes more words are needed to clearly and creatively articulate a point.

I also don't mind reading posts that are longer if they are penned by a gifted writer. If posts are longer, however, I prefer there to be lots of white space, bulleted lists, bolded titles, and/or other formatting gimmicks to make the piece more enticing.
