Our Deepest Fear!
I have read this poem over and over, I have seen it in several movies and let me tell you it never gets old. Read these words and allow them to speak to your heart…
Our Deepest Fear
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Love it…great poem bro.
Don’t want to sound like the typical blog groupie, but that poem by Marianne Williamson has been one of the most influential pieces of literature in my life (outside of scripture). I heard this poem quoted for the first time in the movie, “Akeelah and the Bee”, and made it my mantra for several months.
However, my biggest fear is:
“Being so sure of something, only to find that I was only fooling myself. Or to put it another way… Going hard after something for years, and either failing at it or finding out that I was going after the wrong thing.”
In other words…
Fear of FAILURE.
I fear being complacent with mediocrity.
That is an awesome quote. Beautifully written. Like you, I never tire of it.
James 4:6 …… God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Being a quote junkie I love that one as well, Scott. I do think, however, that we keep in perspective where our ability to shine & be great comes from – that be boast in Christ and not in ourselves. Perhaps our deepest fear is that we are powerful because Christ is working in us and through us. The ability we have to impact the world around us for good because of him is a scary thought if you ask me. Because with it comes immense responsibility!
