#1 Thing Twitter Users Like To Read About

twitterverseThe beauty of Twitter is the fact that it has it’s own little world, community and what many people refer to as the Twitterverse.  The Twiiterverse is a world or sphere in which individuals who twitter exist.  It’s the totality of known or supposed objects, thoughts, people and phenomena throughout the social media community known as Twitter.  You are probably reading this and asking: What are you talking about? Me Too!

The above definitional language is to provide context and show that the people who exist within the Twitterverse are as unique as those in the real universe.  Everyone in the Twitter community uses the social media platform for different reasons and enjoy reading different types of content.  If you don’t believe me just take a few moments and peruse the various tweets rolling in by the millisecond.

As I interact in the Twitterverse I have come to realize that the #1 Thing Twitter Users Like To Read About is Twitter.  The level of Twitter sophistication doesn’t matter; beginners, businesses, to proclaimed gurus all like to read bout the happenings of Twitter.  Some of the most retweeted posts in the Twitterverse share content that pertain to, you guessed it… “Twitter.”  The content can be Tips, Trends, Fails, Possibilities, New Uses, Applications and many other topics, as long as the content is Twitter related.  This is definitely true for the BigIsTheNewSmall.com community; so over the last several months I have set aside my Late Sunday/Early Monday blogposts for some sort of Twitter discussion.

Reading about Twitter is the one thing that the Twitterverse can and will always agree on.  Everything else is suspect, debatable and personal preference.

Do You Agree?  Is Twitter the #1 Thing Twitter Users Like To Read About?

Really? We love to read tweets about Twitter? Agree that Twitter is a sphere, where we can all lean in, learn what is happening, who is doing what and who is doing who (dammmm, Bow Wow) but think the #1 thing people like to read about is HOW. How do you do that? How did you get there? How, on earth, did you sneak into that party. Well…@leastido. Potaua>

I have to agree with you. I have been on Twitter for almost 2 years and I have also notices that the tweets that get the most attention are those about Twitter.

I think people are still in a discovery mode with Twitter. Besides, Twitter is an ego thing for many (ie. how many followers can I get?) so they’re always looking for ways to hack their way to Twitter fame.

I think the #1 think Tweeters like to read about is themselves. So that’s harder to scale. Perhaps Twitter is #2.

Disagree. I have a phrase I use to describe twitter to newcomers: “Value in who you follow.” If you’re seeing mostly people who talk about twitter, then it’s because those are the kinds of people you are following. That’s probably true in your case because those people talk about the things you care about.

Clearly, this is the result of people trying to justify their presence here.

Disagree. That would be utterly boring to me. Twitter is made up of unique individuals and they all have their personal story to talk about. I like the variety of hearing about other people, and because I am primarily on Twitter to sell handmade items, I like hearing from others in the same business.
Variety, different worlds, different experiences. That’s what I like!

Twitter is a phenomenon. It is pervasive and embraces every aspect of humankind. It allows people, around the world, to connect, interact and have safe cerebral intercourse via fleeting 140 characters. It is efficient and informative. It is also entertaining and free.

I would have to agree with this. I get more visitors to my site when I post anything that has the word Twitter. Twitter is still all very new to me, I only discovered it three months ago, and I love it. Thanks for the post.

Wide of the mark, Mr Williams. When tweets are about Twitter, they are about rules, Twitter’s own blog, implementation, debates on the standards Twitter implement for Twitter clients.
Twitter is a tool like any other on the net, and targets real time communication.
@Gil Riech: Those who say things like “I think the #1 think Tweeters like to read about is themselves.” don’t understand Twitter. An example: In Australia one of the major political parties began to implode. The hashtag #spill used to descripe this event was Twitter’s #1 trending topic for 2 days, and in the top 5 for a week. More importantly the national broadcaster was able to use tweets from both commentators, observers and politicians to publish the news via the news account @ABCNews. Much faster than any other medium could, including live television. A fact that Managing Director Mark Scott (@ABCMarkScott) said was a “dawn of a new era in news services.”
I’ve watched the uprisings in Iran, something that main-stream media cannot report on. The news is reported as it happens, not at a carefully edited piece to camera, or a crafted article on a website or, usually 24 hours later in a physical newspaper.
Currently, many parts in South West Western Australia (an area the size of Texas) are in “Catastrophic Weather Alert”, and the relevant authority, FESA issues alerts in all practice instantly via @FESAAlerts at the same time as media outlets get them.
This is a new era of information. Not another festival of navel gazing such as Facebook or Myspace.
I’ll end by paraphrasing Neils Bohr: “If you think you understand Twitter, then you don’t.”

@Epigrammist: Right stuff! Although being a newcomer in the Twitterverse – approx. 1,5 months – I agree with you, thats what I like on Twitter and look for.

I like to learn how to use Twitter better so partly agree but sometimes the tweets about Twitter are overwhelming. Maybe I just need to edit who I follow a wee bit?
