Dynamic Church Conference #DC11

Over the next couple of months I will be speaking at quite a few churches and conferences and I’m really looking forward to sharing the message of Church Diversity.  I’ll share more about the other events later; however today I want to share about one of the events that I’ve been invited to speak at and that’s the Dynamic Church Conference. The Conference is being held at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX :: May 11-13.

This is the conference created by Fellowship Technologies, makers of the leading web-based church management software, Fellowship One. In my sessions I will be sharing about Church Diversity and Social Media Strategy.

There are two-different tracks and many different sessions to choose from including the DC11 Return On Ministry Track, which is geared towards executive church leaders (over 25 sessions). There will be over 50 sessions focused on educating users of Fellowship One software.  . You can save $50 on your registration by using the special code “swilliams.”  You can get more details and register for the conference here.

If your church uses Fellowship One, this is a must-attend conference for your entire team.  I’ll see you at DC11.

The Fundamental Flaw Of Leadership

The Art Of Leadership is not something that comes natural for everyone, although some individuals are uniquely gifted to be more successful than others.  The one thing that is certain for all leaders is the fact that in order to be successful they will have to over-come leadership flaws.  Leadership flaws come in many shapes, forms and fashions.  Just think of the leaders that you have worked for and imagine their flaws that caused you and your co-workers heartache.  Imagine your own leadership flaws and the heartache that you might have caused others.

There are enough leadership flaws out there that we could fill up a book of flaws and fixes.  In my opinion The Fundamental Flaw Of Leadership is not shooting straight with team members and not allowing them to know where they stand.  Time and time again, leaders will talk about the ineptness of a team member or department, without talking to that team member or department head about those particular challenges.  The even sadder fact is that when these employees are on the ropes and getting ready to be fired or moved to another department and don’t even see it coming.

Leaders have the responsibility of letting people know where they stand.  If a person knows where they stand, they know what to fix.  As a leader if you find yourself talking about the struggles a team member is having and they don’t know they are having those struggles… you need to look in the mirror, because you are not doing your job.

Again, if you are a leader and are not letting people know where they stand and not Keeping It Real… you are committing The Fundamental Flaw Of Leadership. Give your team member the one thing they need and that’s the right information.  Information is not knowledge, however having the right information can lead to having the right knowledge.

What do you think?  Is this The Fundamental Flaw Of Leadership?  Have you seen this be problematic?

Living Without Limits

Often times the only limits that we have in our lives are the ones that are self-imposed.  Seriously, the majority of the things that we dream about, we can actually accomplish.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not such a “pie in the sky” type of person that I believe that I can go play in the NFL.  I do believe that the things that I’m passionate and dream about can and will come true with some hard-work.

Stop limiting yourself with small thinking.

Stop limiting yourself because of what other people think.

Stop limiting yourself because of your past failures.

Stop limiting yourself because the mountain seems to high.

It’s time to start Living Without Limits, because I guarantee the limits that your a facing, are self imposed.  Yesterday was a memory and tomorrow is a dream.  dream BIG. think BIGGER.

Life is a game… Play It Well.

Life is a race… Finish Strong.

Life is a battle… Fight Hard.

Life is a quote… Put An Exclamation Point At The End!

Life is what you make it, it’s time to get rid of the insecurities, fears and doubts and start Living Without Limits.

Limit Yourself or Live Without Limits…  The Choice Is Yours!

Leave It On The Field!

It doesn’t matter if you are an athlete or not, you must learn to “Leave It On The Field.”  We only get one opportunity to do this thing called life on earth one time, we must learn to make it count.  Not only do we need to make it count, but we must learn to Leave It On The Field.

You must learn to commit wholly and give the game of life your best effort.  Give your best to the things that matter, keeping nothing on the sidelines.  Leave It On The Field, especially  in the aspects of your life that truly matter:

  • Time with your family
  • Meaningful time with kids
  • Your craft, hobbies and work
  • Your ministry
  • Your dreams
  • Your faith
  • Your marriage
  • Your calling
  • Everything that matters

“I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.” ~Vince Lombardi

Are you leaving it on the field or keeping it on the sidelines?

AT&T Buys T-Mobile for $39 Billion

Breaking News:  AT&T buys T-Mobile for $39 Billion in cash and stocks.  In a press release by AT&T, it was noted that the agreement has been approved by both companies Boards of Directors.

First of all let me start off by saying that I have been a loyal T-Mobile customer for over 9 years, all the way back when the provider was called VoiceStream.  I have always loved T-Mobile’s customer service, appreciated their coverage and have been a raving fan of their price plans.  So much so, that my entire family has used Jailbroken and Unlocked iPhones.

This obviously is a win for AT&T, as they will be the new Top Dawg of US Mobile Carriers. According to T-Mobile Media Relations, the reason they are doing the merger is “To ensure the deployment of a robust 4G LTE network to 95% of the U.S. population, something neither company would achieve on its own. Also, because of our compatible networks and spectrum, the customers of T-Mobile USA and AT&T will experience improved voice and data service almost immediately after the networks are integrated.”

Some Q&A for me and other T-Mobile customers according to the T-Mobile Website are as follows:

  • Will my service change? No change in service.
  • Will I be billed by AT&T? No, your bill remains the same.
  • Will T-Mobiles Quality be reduced? No, it will be even better.
  • Will I still be able to use my T-Mobile phone? Yes, now and in the future.
  • Is T-Mobile USA be getting the iPhone? T-Mobile USA remains an independent company. and does not offer the iPhone.
  • Will my rate plan change? No, T-Mobile will honor contracts entered into before change of ownership.

I think it’s still to early to speculate what this will do to the Unlocked and Jailbroken market. Personally, I’m excited about the potential of T-Mobile becoming better, as better is generally a good thing.  I guess time will tell. The name AT&T-Mobile is growing on me… well maybe not. Nonetheless, if the deal makes it through regulatory approval, there will be 130 million people on this new massive network.

What do you think about the merger/buyout?  Is this going to be better overall for AT&T & T-Mobile Customers?  What does this mean for Sprint & Verizon?
