Christian Haters

Hater- A person that simply cannot be happy for another person’s success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.

Hating, the result of being a hater, is not exactly jealousy. The hater doesn’t really want to be the person he or she hates, rather the hater wants to knock someone else down a notch.

A person that develops a strong dislike for another, solely basing their own opinion on personal judgment rather than objective merit.

My Thoughts On “Christian Haters” in the form of Run-On-Ranting-Sentence:

It always disturbs me to run across, read, see or hear the Christian Haters, you know the followers of Christ who always seem to point out the negative, claim their way is the only way, don’t like someone because they look a certain way, think a certain way, or if they don’t say certain words, or do a particular style of ministry or because they are too nice, or too candid or to this or too that, I had written a post over three years ago titled “Stop Hatin’ On Joel Osteen” and it was popular seem to brought out even more Christian Haters, even leaders hating on leaders, pastors hating on other pastors, denominations hating on other denominations, brothers and sisters in Christ hating on other brothers and sisters in Christ, hating simply for the sake of hating, love, love, love, yes love God, love people, it’s so much easier to hate than to give the benefit of the doubt and try to truly understand or assume the best, do your deal, run after God and don’t drink the hatorade, it will never quench your thirst, only leaving a desire for more hating.

God Is Love…

    Where is the love right?
I feel like maturity is missing along the way here, if you are not liking something or in disagreement that’s cool, pray for the person, Paul said rejoice… Philippians 1:17 Those others do not have pure motives as they preach about Christ. They preach with selfish ambition, not sincerely, intending to make my chains more painful to me. 18 But that doesn’t matter. Whether their motives are false or genuine, the message about Christ is being preached either way, so I rejoice. And I will continue to rejoice.
So, what should we do for each other. Rejoice!

I appreciate the idea of this, but when does the idea of false teaching come in. There is a point when pointless “hating” stops and actual accountability begins. I think that Joel Osteen preaches things that are not backed up Biblically. Is there not a way to discuss that? Thanks for the thoughtful post.

I think that there is a difference between “debate” and “hate”. Too often Christians can’t properly make the distinction.
So much crap is thrown at Joel Osteen by people who come off like sounding like children that it’s ridiculous.

  • http://unprofessionalopinion.wordpress.com/ Price

What is the distinction between “debate” and “hate”. I agree that it is too often confused. I think Joel gets enough love to offset the crap.

You are right. It is easier to hate than love and i think the reason that a lot of Christians hate on other Christians is because so many people are still stuck in the past and were taught that there is only one way. They have had a ceiling placed on there perspectives and the only way to change that is to have a paradigm shift. I used to be that way because of what i was taught, but i realize that we can’t put God in a box. Just like the Church has diversity issues, many Christians have the same issues when it comes to denomination, worship styles, and even message delivery. If we all could be on one accord and accept each others uniqueness, we would accomplish so much more in the Kingdom.

The simple fact that God made us all so different. Different heights, colors, personalities, talents, interest, etc. He obviously wants some diversity in His praise. We have an obligation to give it to Him.

Some people need to say something . One sure fire way to get attention is to criticize someone else whose getting attention. Look at the news the voices that are the loudest and getting the most attention aren’t the ones praising whoever (president, pop star, business), its the people who are criticizing. Its like we thrive off of negativity in this country.

Too often y’all forget that not only is God Love, but that Love is jealous. And it’s a perfect jealousy. It’s that jealousy that makes the most powerful mortals to walk the face of this earth powerless to distraction. Seek ye first, and all that. Silly rabbits. (grin)

    Words mean things.

You have changed the meaning of the word hate, yet you are using the original meaning when portraying the diametrically opposed love-hate opposition that everyone has been familiar with since the beginning of time.

Let hate mean hate. If you mean “A person that simply cannot be happy for another person’s success. So rather than be happy they make a point of exposing a flaw in that person.”, then make up a new word.

Don’t change the meaning to build a straw man argument.

I think “love” needs to be properly defined here.
It is NOT loving to let a professing brother or sister go on teaching something that is not supported in Scripture or is contrary to it. It’s not loving him or her to let them continue in a way that will result in God having to correct him or her. It’s also not loving to just sit by while this same person indoctrinates many people with teaching that is false or only partly true.
Remember the order of the two great commandments: Love God with all you got, that love for God then flows out to others. It’s guided and informed by my love first for Him and His glory. Now and then this will mean confronting a brother or sister – with patience and respect. Outright false teachers are, perhaps, another matter.
