Managers vs. Leaders

Here are some simple thoughts on Managers vs. Leaders. These are thoughts I jotted in my journal this morning while at my hotel in Dallas. I’m at Leadership Network sharing and connecting with some great churches from around the country. These 6 churches represent over 75,000 weekend attenders.

Below are some of my thoughts on Managers vs. Leaders, share your thoughts.

Did you use one of those three-in-one pens? :) I definitely think that these lists are not complete, but the point is made. Great list!

I love this. You nailed it Scott.

    Thanks for sharing that.

It gets me excited to read the differences, especially the potential for leaders and the difference between the two. I am way more drawn to leadership side

    • Scott Williams

Yes.. both are necessary. Thx for the comment bro. I always appreciate it.

Great breakdown. I’ve been thinking about this a lot. Too many people want to be leaders, yet have a managerial mind. That is the problem I’ve seen over the years. Too many managers pretending to be leaders.

It’s a difficult to figure them out at times… Sometimes its a blindspot for the managers

I’m sure you were intentional with the color use in writing out this list. It helps to distinguish the thoughts better. When teaching class and I pull out the white board, I always attempt to use different colors to help the group distinguish between the thoughts of what is being conveyed.

Again Scott, I’m a fan of these post.

    Go Win!

Thanks for the encouragement… I got this cool multi-color team.

No matter how you look at this grid, matrix, what have you it is pretty deep what you’ve written down here. There is a progress from left to right, starting to finishing, as we engage, manage then lead.

Love the breakdown on the differences between a manager and a leader. Your talk at The Nines conference was awesome. Learned a lot!
