U2 Concert vs. Catalyst Conference
I am chillin’ in the ATL waiting for the Catalyst Conference to kick off. After a roughly 12 hour drive the entire n-dub team went to the U2 concert along w/ nearly 100,000 other people. The Concert was rockin’, the lights and sound were amazing and the people were worshipping.
I decided to come up with a list of some things the U2 Concert and The Catalyst Conference have in common:
- Andy Stanley met Barack Obama and Bono met Barack Obama.
- People radically worshipped and followed the worship leader.
- Both experiences take you on a journey from beginning to end.
- At both places everyone in the room was anticipating what’s next.
- Some people were there to see Bono, others wanted to see The Edge and some people really didn’t know who the other band members were. Some people are going to Catalyst to see Andy Stanley, others to see Rob Bell, many to see Tony Dungy and some people really don’t know who some of the other speakers are, especially the lab speakers.
The bottom line is that in a quote-unquote “recession” thousands of people at both places: pay lots of money, yell, scream and clap, and expect an experience that will last a lifetime.
