Big Is The New Small

I have some great give-aways today.  Today’s BIG give-aways include some cool stuff from some friends of mine, christian artists Shane and Shane. If you are not aware of their music, you should be, these guys are the real deal.  We recently hung out and I just love these guys genuine hearts and passion to share their gospel and impact the community.

Shane and Shane has sold over a half a million records and now they have a new project which is their first studio release in two years, The One You Need. Available Oct. 4, the project’s debut single and title track is quickly becoming a hit.  As a matter of fact just yesterday, on my way to an client appointment, I had to sit in the car and finish listening to “The One You Need” before on The Message satellite radio station before going into the meeting.

After a brief hiatus from recording, Shane Barnard and Shane Everett have returned to the studio with two years worth of new material, all self-written and self-produced. The duo, who has been playing together for 13 years, has joined efforts with Fair Trade Services, home to top artists including The Afters, MercyMe, and Derek Webb, for this new album.

The Shanes, now both married with children, created this latest record through the lens of fatherhood and community. In fact, Barnard penned the title track—a poignant letter from daddy to daughter—a week before his daughter Lucy was born. Having also recently assumed the role of worship pastors at their local church, The One You Need additionally contains songs intended to minister to those hurting around them.

Although it doesn’t release until October 4th, I already have the new album in my iTunes (I got the hook up… keep reading, you can also get the hook up).  It’s an awesome project that really compliments the Shane’s unique style and unique sound.  Some of my personal favorites include: Grace Is Sufficient, Your Love, Praise Him, Miracle and the title track “The One You Need” which is featured in the above video.  As a parent it will break your heart and make you re-focus at the same time.

It’s time for some BIG News as in BigIsTheNewSmall.com kinda BIG News.  I have been thinking through some BIG Ideas for BigIsTheNewSmall.com for 2011 and I have a few working.

Let me share a couple of the BIG Ideas with you and we will get them kicked off today.

Can you believe Christmas is just a week away and it’s almost here.  The problem with almost is this — “Almost Isn’t Good Enough.” If you almost win a million dollars, if your team almost won the game, if you almost took that step towards doing the right thing, if you are almost saved…  The bottom line is almost just isn’t good enough.

That’s what his new book Almost Isn’t Good Enough is all about, It’s about challenging us to realize we only have one chance at this thing we call life.  Wayne does an excellent job of weaving real life stories with practical insights that will challenge and inspire you to look at you life, purpose and decisions differently.  As Wayne puts it in Almost Isn’t Good Enough, “Each of us has a brand. We reinforce this by the decisions we make and the actions we take.”  In other words we are what we do and not the lip service of what we say.

We all have the ability to change the world deep down inside of us.  It takes courage, inspiration, faith and those God moments to bring the world changer out of us.  Wayne draws everything back to the day he saw a shoe washup on shore after the Asian tsunami. Something inside of him made him want to do something instead of just ignore the pain of others. He didnʼt know what it was at the time but he knew he had to take action.

One of my favorite conferences is this conference that happens right outside of Dallas, Texas.  The conference is called the RightNow Conference and it’s put on by a great organization.  The conference is November 11th & 12th, 2010 at Irving Bible Church.  There will also be a small-groups only gathering on November 10th.

The focus of this years conference is “Leading Beyond Our Walls.”  In an age where consumerism and culture compete with the aims of the church, it is important to ground ourselves in a Biblical view of leadership.  will help transform the self-focused leadership to outward focused leadership.

There are tons of great main-stage and breakout speakers including Max Lucado, Erwin McManus, Anne Jackson, Tony Evans, Amena Brown and others.  I will also be speaking at one of the breakout sessions.
