Big Is The New Small

There is nothing better than a great worship tune, that comes from true worship leaders out of the local church.  The names that come to mind for me include: Kari Jobe, Israel Houghton & Hillsong United. For more than two decades, Integrity Music has introduced new worship songs emerging from churches around the world including Gateway, New Life and Lakewood in the U.S. and Hillsong in Australia.

Integrity’s latest discovery is Abundant Life Ministries a dynamic, multi-cultural church based in Bradford, England and led by pastor and renowned speaker/author Paul Scanlon.  One thing is for certain is that Integrity knows how to find some of the best talent in the world and shares their music with the world.  I got my copy of ALM UK’s new CD titled “Name Above All Names” a couple of weeks ago when it released.  It’s definitely a great CD with tracks that will grab you personally and will play well in a corporate worship setting.  Some of my personal favorite tunes on the CD are Be Glorified, Name Above All Names, My God Reigns and First Love.  You can grab your copy directly from Integrity here or on iTunes here.

This kid is a 6th. Grader at the school my son will be attending next year in Edmond, Oklahoma.  I’m not gonna lie, he is straight jammin’ as he masterfully rocks Lady Gaga’s song Paparazzi.  The video has received nearly 4 million views as of right now, he will be on the Ellen Show Tomorrow and well the rest will be history!

I’m excited to announce my man @AndyKirk  is releasing his new album May 11th.  Andy was my Worship Pastor at the NW Oklahoma City Campus of LifeChurch.tv for over a year.  During his tenure at my campus he was able to share several of the songs that are on this album during our weekend worship experiences.  The amazing thing about Andy is that he’s a young guy with life experience beyond his years.  Not only is Andy a great vocalist and a gifted writer, his music is rich and Biblically accurate.  Everyone at the n-dub loved to worship to his tunes and I know each of you will as well.

Andy’s debut release Wake Up My Soul hits stores and iTunes on Tuesday May, 11th. The album title reflects his heart as he explains this way, “I hope to see God’s people awake from their slumber. Awaking from the numbing effect of culture and society, to the knowledge and revelation of who Christ is and what He can do through us. I’m truly humbled to see what God has done with a small seed of talent in my life, and I am eager to share these new songs of hope and surrender with the Church.” This ten song release includes “Wonderful Savior,” “Let Justice Ring,” “Falling In Love,” and more.

My personal favorites on this album are: You Are God, Healer (His Version), Wake Up My Soul, Remarkable & Falling In Love.  I could actually mention all of them as favorites.  For those of you that know me, know that I keep it real and don’t give lip service to something that I’m not fond of.  This cat is just good and he and his wife Elizabeth are a strong Christian Couple.  Go pick up his album on Tuesday and I guarantee you will like it.  His appeal ranges from my 7 & 10 yo sons, me & my wife, teenage girls, parents with teenage girls all the way to grandmas and grandpas.

Chris Brown and Sony Dance all The Way To The Bank… Thanks To Hillarious Wedding Video.   This crazy viral YouTube shows the entire Wedding Party doing a crazy dance number to Chris Brown’s song “Forever” while entering.  Two things are probably certain about this video 1.) the Couple wanted this video to go viral.  2.)  The couple did not have permission from Chris Brown, Sony or Rihanna {insert smile} to use the song.

Instead of Sony getting an injunction, suing, having the video removed or crying like a baby they decided to dance all the way to the bank.  The video has received 14 million views and Sony added a nice little click-to-buy link where you can buy the single.  Can you say Cha’ Ching$$$$…  sales have skyrocketed, with the single topping both Amazon and iTunes top seller lists. 

Does this change the game for the way the recording industry views music piracy or unauthorized use?  Share your thoughts on the video, the couple 5 minutes of fame or Sony’s approach!
