You

                     You

You were made for more

You must stop settling for less

You are a story yet to be told

You must rise up and be bold

You need to stop focusing on them

You shall long to remember that You are a product of Him

Failing Is Like Falling

Failing is like Falling
When one falls, they don’t stay down
They stand up, dust themselves off and keep on truckin’

When one fails, often times they will spend lots of time thinking about it
Some will even turn to drinking about it

When one fails, they tend to overlook the fact that it’s no different than falling

As sure as a baby learning to walk will fall, you will fail
Babies are not paralyzed by their fall; they learn the right way to fall
They learn to fall forward, land on their bottom and brace themselves, so their fall doesn’t hurt nearly as much

When you fail, remember it’s no different than a baby’s fall
Learn from it, get back up and keep on steppin’
Baby’s love to fall, as they don’t see their falls as fails

Failing is Like Falling; it’s simply part of the journey
Fail and fail often
Failing is not permanent, it’s not fatal
Failing is Like Falling; you simply dust yourself off and get back up.

Do You Think You Can?

I love reading poetry to gain insight and to spur on new thoughts, creativity and different ways to say the same thing. As I was doing some poetry reading this morning and oldie but goodie really spoke to me. This poem is so rich and speaks to the power of our thoughts.  So much of what we do or don’t do, depends on how we process all of the information that we receive.

What are you thinking?  Why are you thinking It?  Are you the Victor?

The Poem below is called “The Victor.” Read it and believe it.  dream BIG. think BIGGER.

The Victor
Poet: C.W. Longenecker

If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you like to win but think you can’t,
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost.
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are.
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win the prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.

You Have Been Bewitched By Satan

This is a great video that my man Samson Varughese created of a spoken word piece by David Bowden.  I love working with both of these guys, they are both super-creative and this piece is amazingly raw, real and an accurate depiction.

The title of this piece is “I Believe In The Devil.” Watch it, listen to it, hear it, watch it again and share your comments below.

Have you been bewitched by satan?

Please share this… it’s a message that we all need to hear.

Why Do I Fear?

Why Do I Fear?

I was told that HE did not give me the spirit of fear,

But it seems like every time I turn around fear is whispering in my ear,

You can’t do this and you can’t do that.

Having no regard for the affects of these negative meditations,

The reality is they are filling me with more and more hesitation,

Don’t try this and don’t try that.

I was told that I can do all things through HE who strengthens me,

But I seem to be debilitated by those around me telling me what I can’t be,

You won’t be this and you won’t be that.

Why do I fear?

I fear because I don’t believe in me.

I fear because I don’t trust HE!

“Diversity’s Symphony” Church Diversity Spoken Word

It has been amazing how well the message of #ChurchDiversity has been received around the country and even around the world.  It’s been a true blessing to be able to speak at churches, colleges and conferences all around the country about Diversity in the Church.  It has been great to see churches from 24 states add their name to this list of churches of being committed to Church Diversity.

My buddy Chase put together a couple of Book Trailers that have received over 5,000 views.  I wanted to take the video illustration of the church diversity message in my book to the realm of spoken word, so I called upon two friends to make it happen. I asked my man David Bowden to write an original spoken word piece, not only did he write one, he penned the amazing piece in the above video titled “Diversity’s Symphony.”  My man Samson Varughese from Emanate Media brought David’s words to life in this video.

I love the the richness of this piece, I’ll definitely be using it when I’m speaking at some of my speaking engagements.  If you, your church is interested in having me speak to your organization, church or group about diversity or any other subject, please send Ashley Smith an e-mail ashley(at)bigisthenewsmall.com or fill out a contact form here. We are currently scheduling dates for the end of the summer and fall.

Share your thoughts on this video.  Feel free to share it with your friends as the goal is to continue to lay the heartbeat of this movement on the hearts of God’s sons and daughters.

Living Without Limits

Often times the only limits that we have in our lives are the ones that are self-imposed.  Seriously, the majority of the things that we dream about, we can actually accomplish.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m not such a “pie in the sky” type of person that I believe that I can go play in the NFL.  I do believe that the things that I’m passionate and dream about can and will come true with some hard-work.

Stop limiting yourself with small thinking.

Stop limiting yourself because of what other people think.

Stop limiting yourself because of your past failures.

Stop limiting yourself because the mountain seems to high.

It’s time to start Living Without Limits, because I guarantee the limits that your a facing, are self imposed.  Yesterday was a memory and tomorrow is a dream.  dream BIG. think BIGGER.

Life is a game… Play It Well.

Life is a race… Finish Strong.

Life is a battle… Fight Hard.

Life is a quote… Put An Exclamation Point At The End!

Life is what you make it, it’s time to get rid of the insecurities, fears and doubts and start Living Without Limits.

Limit Yourself or Live Without Limits…  The Choice Is Yours!

Savior (Christian Hip Hop Video)

New video from The Exodus Movement.  These guys are local to Oklahoma City; I love their heart for God and heart for “The City” #OKC.

I think Christian Hip Hop is crucial in winning an entire generation to Christ.  Hip Hop is truly a worldwide cultural expression and artistic form.  When I was in Equador on a mission trip, I remember being in the local village and asking the kids what music from the US they like and influences them.  Their response was, “Michael Jackson, Eminem and 50 Cent.”  I actually pray for Eminem, because I’m a fan of his natural, raw, real, storytelling, rappin’ skillz.  I pray for his road to Damascus, Saul to Paul experience — it will be a great win for kingdom influence.  I’ve read that some Christians are working with Eminem and that he remains open to the Gospel.  The evolution of his music shows growth and a deeper need to do and say what’s right.

Support your local Christian Hip Hop artists and Christian Hip Hop in general — they are reaching a segment of culture that many will never be able to.
