It's Hard Being An Original

It’s Hard Being An Original

It’s hard being an original in a society that’s all about keeping up with the Jones’; Who are the Jones’ anyway?

It’s much easier to be a copycat, fake, wannabe; than simply being who God created me to be.

It’s hard being original because people might not understand the real me; Don’t I need to be understood?

It’s much easier to just follow in the footprints of others, because being an orginal requires me to make footprints of my own.

It’s hard to be like those great ones that came before me; they were originals.

It shouldn’t be that hard to be an original because God uniquely made me to be me and not to be them.

The more comfortable I become looking in the mirror at me and really liking what I see; the more discontent I become with settling for being a wannabe.

I am who HE says I AM… I’m An Original.

I'm Not Perfect…

not perfectI’M NOT PERFECT…

I’m not a perfect parent; but I do a darn good job of loving and leading my children.

I’m not a perfect pastor; but I learn, lead, read, dream, counsel and attempt to make a positive impact on my team, my flock and my community.

I’m not a perfect social media guy; but I do a great job of keepin’ it real, sharing what’s on my heart, letting people into my world, inspiring people, sharing positive tidbits and making people ask why.

I’m not a perfect husband; but I always try to honor, respect and appreciate my wife for who she is and who she can be. I love her and she loves me.

The bottom line is that I’m not perfect and neither are you; but that doesn’t stop us from trying, learning,  leading, sharing, growing, doing a darn good job and even doing a great jobs at the little things of life.

Just because I’m Not Perfect… doesn’t mean that I’m Not Great!

~I Am Scott; however In Christ, I Am Great!~

Let Me Lead!

leadLet Me Lead

I know that I was created for this; So let me lead!

I may not look like, act like, talk like, or think like you; You still have to let me lead!

I know that you’re the boss; One day that will be me; I promise you will see; If you just let me lead.

I know that you don’t like the word submit; Sometimes you even throw a fit; You don’t understand what I’m dealin’ wit; This is what I’m called to do; It’s True, It’s True, So just let me lead!

There is a leader inside of me;  If you look deep into my eyes, You will See; Let me lead!

I’m a leader, Not a poet; I can make a difference in this world and I know it; If you will just give me the opportunity to show it; Please, just let me lead!

Never-mind, I don’t need your permission… I’m A Leader!

To all the leaders out there… Go make it happen!  GO LEAD!

"A Leader" vs. "The Leader"

a-leaderPronunciation: “A Leader” Uh-Leader  and “The Leader” Thuh Leader

Just because you are “A Leader” doesn’t necessarily mean that you are “The Leader.”

Just because you are “A Leader” who leads a church of 500 people; deosn’t mean that you are “The Leader” to take that church to over a thousand people.

Just because you are “A Leader” that has a position, a title and an office; doesn’t mean that you are “The Leader” that people believe in, respect and are excited to follow.

Just because you are “A Leader” that people look up to today; doesn’t mean that you are going to be “The Leader” that people look up to tomorrow.

Just because you are “A Leader” on this team; doesn’t meant that you are going to be “The Leader” on that team.

Just because you are “The Leader” to this particular group or faction; doesn’t mean you will be “The Leader” to that group or faction.

If you are “A Leader” and think that you are “The Leader” that can be a problem, know your place and respect your space.

Although both are important, there is definitely a difference between being “A Leader” and “The Leader.”

Remember, just because you are “A Leader” doesn’t mean that you will necessarilly ever be “The Leader.”

If you are “A Leader” who’s determined to be “The Leader” figure it out; Go Lead… Transcend The Isms’

Thoughts?  Have you worked with “A Leader” who thinks they are “The Leader?”

Do You Have A Dream Or A Vision?

visionDO YOU HAVE A DREAM OR A VISION

In life, many thoughts are born in the course of a moment, an hour, a day. Some are dreams, some visions. Often, we are unable to distinguish between them. To some, they are the same; however, not all dreams are visions. Much energy is lost in fanciful dreams that never bear fruit. But visions are messages from the Great Spirit, each for a different purpose in life. Consequently, one person’s vision may not be that of another. To have a vision, one must be prepared to receive it, and when it comes, to accept it. Thus when these inner urges become reality, only then can visions be fulfilled. The spiritual side of life knows everyone’s heart and who to trust. How could a vision ever be given to someone to harbor if that person could not be trusted to carry it out. The message is simple: commitment precedes vision.

It’s simple, kinda like the “Got Milk?” “Got Vision?” Share your thoughts?

I Don't Want To Go To Your Church!

Dear Mr. Church: I wanted to formally let you know that I Don’t Want To Go To Your Church.

I don’t really understand the God thing and your rules make it even more difficult to understand.

I know you say come as you are, but let’s not go too far because you really don’t mean that.  Don’t you really mean come as everyone else in your building is?

Mr. Church: I really don’t understand this God thing and when I come through your doors and try to sing, for some reason the elevator just doesn’t go ”ding” because I just don’t get this whole God thing.

I am out here doing my thing, you know all the stuff you church folks call sin… No matter what I do I just can’t seem to win.

I’m out here doing my own thing and wished I knew of the God whose praises so many people sing; but in my mind the elevator just doesn’t go “ding.”

Dear Mr. Church: I want to find God, but I don’t know where to search, to the best of my knowledge I can find him at your church.  Mr. Church, I know that your people will look at me funny and simply just want my money.  They expect me to dress and act a certain way and they will keep me in your service all day.   They will make a scene if I’m new and beat me up with all the rules until I’m black and blue.

Dear Mr. Church: I Want To Know God, but I Don’t Want To Go To Your Church!

Sincerely,

Non Church Attending Searching Lost Hungry Far From God Guy/Girl

Love To Lead, Lead To Love…

love-lead

Love To Lead, Lead To Love…

If you love to lead, you must truly learn to love those you lead; Love them through their inadequacies, strengths, insecurities and dreams.

If you love to lead, don’t view those you lead as a finished product, but rather as a work in progress; you are the geologist that gets to survey the soil, while shaping and molding the clay.

If you love to lead, be patient and kind; do not be envious or get easily angered.

If you love to lead, you must truly trust those you lead; love them through your expectations and belief that they will achieve greatness, while embracing their inevitable failures.

Love those that you lead as though they are an extension of who you are.

If you love to lead, you will lead people to love themselves… You will lead them to love “Not You” but rather their environment and “What They Do!”

Love To Lead…

Sometimes…

sometimesSometimes you will be misunderstood so people will look and stare.

Sometimes you won’t have all the answers and you will not care.

Sometimes you will have a dream that you will make true.

Sometimes you will realize what God has put inside of you.

Sometimes you will fight and will not run.

Sometimes you will fight until the job is done.

Sometimes you will think when everyone else has thought.

Sometimes you will remember the lessons that life has taught.

Sometimes you will be called arrogant and you will not care.

Sometimes you will be called arrogant and you’ll say don’t you dare.

Sometimes you will fight, claw, cry, push, realize, stand, think and dream.

That sometime is today that sometime is now… Sometimes!

"I Will"

Most mornings I find inspiration through the 3B’s Books, Bible & Blogs; however this morning it was through 3P’s Prayer, Praise & Poetry.  As I finished praying; while listening to some Gospel music, I began to read through some inspirational poems.  I came across this poem from an anonymous author… here it goes.

I WILL DO MORE
I am only one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
And what I can do, I ought to do.
And what I ought to do, by the grace of God, I will do.
I will do more than belong…I will participate.
I will do more than care…I will help.
I will do more than believe…I will practice.
I will do more than be fair…I will be kind.
I will do more than dream…I will work.
I will do more than teach…I will inspire.
I will do more than earn…I will enrich.
I will do more than give…I will serve.
I will do more than live…I will grow.
I will do more than talk…I will act.
I will be more than good…I will be good for something.
